AdsDroid Review and Alternative for KDP Authors (2026)

BookBidder vs AdsDroid: AdsDroid review and alternative for KDP authors

AdsDroid is a done-for-you Amazon Ads agency for KDP authors and publishers. A dedicated account manager and AdsDroid's own software run your ads for £649 a month (about $850) or 10% of your net profit, whichever is higher, with a three-month minimum and a recommended ad budget of about $3,000 a month. BookBidder is software built for KDP authors: it adjusts your bids automatically twice a day and asks before making bigger changes, for $49 to $199 a month with no share of your spend or profit. If you spend $3,000 or more a month and want your ads fully off your plate, AdsDroid is a strong option. If you'd rather stay in charge of your ads at a flat software price, BookBidder is the better fit.

We built BookBidder, so we're biased. Where AdsDroid is the better fit, we say so. AdsDroid's details were checked on its own website in October 2026.

    What AdsDroid is

AdsDroid (DRD Media Ltd, based in the UK) is a managed service from the team behind Adigy, not software you log in to. It focuses only on Amazon Ads for books.

    • How it works: a dedicated account manager directs your account, and AdsDroid's in-house software handles routine work. A person reviews the account at least two to three times a week, and daily during launches.
    • What it does: campaign creation (including launch campaigns for new books), keyword research, negatives, bids, budgets, and Sponsored Brands campaigns with image and video creative from its in-house designer. It also advises on your cover, description, A+ Content, reviews and pricing. You keep every publishing decision.
    • Reporting: two reports a month focused on royalties, ad spend and net profit, plus catch-up calls.
    • Pricing: £649 a month or 10% of net profit, whichever is higher, for all books in all marketplaces. Three-month initial commitment. Recommended ad budget of at least £2,300 (about $3,000) a month.
    • Getting started: you apply for a free strategy call.
    • Who it's for: AdsDroid says it's for established authors with books that already sell, and not for authors who want to control every bid themselves or prefer a self-directed tool.

What each costs at your ad spend

    Monthly ad spend BookBidder AdsDroid
    $1,000 £649 (about $850), below AdsDroid's recommended budget
$3,000 £649 (about $850), or 10% of net profit if higher
$5,000 £649 (about $850), or 10% of net profit if higher
$10,000 £649 (about $850), or 10% of net profit if higher

BookBidder's plans are Starter ($49, up to $1,000 a month in managed spend), Growth ($79, up to $3,000), Scale ($129, up to $5,000) and Publisher ($199, up to $10,000). Annual plans are about 18% off. See BookBidder pricing.

AdsDroid's 10% applies once 10% of your monthly net profit is more than £649, which means net profit above about £6,490 (about $8,500) a month. Its website doesn't say how net profit is calculated, so check that in your agreement. With the three-month minimum, the smallest total commitment is about £1,947 (about $2,500).

Why KDP authors choose BookBidder over an agency

    • A flat price that doesn't grow with your profit. At $3,000 a month in ad spend, BookBidder is $79 a month. AdsDroid is at least £649 (about $850), and once your books earn more, 10% of your net profit goes to the agency.
    • You stay the CEO of your ads. Set a target ACOS per campaign based on what that book's royalty can carry, pick a bid strategy, and BookBidder carries it out. New campaigns and new keywords wait for your approval. AdsDroid's own site says it isn't the right fit if you want to control every bid.
    • Bids adjusted twice a day. BookBidder works on your bids automatically twice a day, every day, not on a review schedule.
    • Profit per book whenever you want it. The KDP Sync Chrome extension brings your KDP royalties into BookBidder, including Kindle Unlimited page reads, so you see TACoS and profit per book next to your ad spend any time you log in, not just in a report.
    • Built for serious authors below agency budgets. BookBidder is built for KDP authors spending $1,000 or more a month. AdsDroid recommends at least $3,000.
    • You still get a person. Every BookBidder account gets a one-on-one onboarding call with the founder. It takes 30 to 45 minutes and focuses on getting your ads profitable.
    • New campaigns never add to your ad budget without your permission. When a search term already sells, BookBidder suggests its own exact-match campaign and shows you the budget first. Nothing is built until you approve it.

"I've had the best few profitable months since using BookBidder."

Where AdsDroid is the better fit

    • You want your ads completely off your plate. BookBidder automates the daily work, but you still set targets and approve bigger changes. With AdsDroid, a team does all of it.
    • You want a publishing expert watching your account. AdsDroid's account manager also reviews your cover, description, A+ Content and pricing. BookBidder's Ad Insights gives book page suggestions, but from software, not a person.
    • You launch often. AdsDroid builds launch campaigns for new books and watches launches daily. BookBidder manages campaigns you've built and adds new ones only from search terms that already sell.
    • You want Sponsored Brands creative made for you. AdsDroid's in-house designer makes image and video ads. BookBidder doesn't create ad creative.
    • You want budgets managed for you. AdsDroid sets and moves budgets across books and marketplaces. BookBidder doesn't change your existing campaign budgets.

BookBidder is simpler on purpose. Most KDP authors with campaigns that already sell don't need an agency to run them, and fewer moving parts means fewer things to go wrong. But if you'd rather hand everything to a team and your ad budget supports it, AdsDroid is a reasonable choice.

Who should choose AdsDroid, and who should choose BookBidder

    Choose AdsDroid if:

    • You spend $3,000 or more a month on ads and don't want to manage them at all.
    • You want launch campaigns, Sponsored Brands creative and book page advice handled for you.
    • Paying at least £649 a month, or 10% of net profit, makes sense for your catalogue.

    Choose BookBidder if:

    • You spend $1,000 or more a month on ads and want automation without giving up control.
    • You already have campaigns that work and want them managed as they are.
    • You want a flat software price with no share of your profit and no minimum term on monthly plans.
    • You want to see profit per book, including Kindle Unlimited, whenever you check.

How to switch from AdsDroid to BookBidder

    1. Check your agreement. AdsDroid's first three months are a required commitment, and its notice terms are in your written agreement.
    2. Start a BookBidder trial and connect your Amazon Ads account. It takes about two minutes.
    3. Pick the campaigns BookBidder should manage. Campaigns AdsDroid built are regular campaigns in your Amazon Ads account, so BookBidder can manage them too.
    4. Make sure AdsDroid has stopped managing those campaigns first. Two systems changing the same bids will work against each other. Remove AdsDroid's access to your Amazon Ads account when you end the service.
    5. Choose a bid strategy for each campaign, like Target ACOS, and set up your Smart Rules.
    6. Install the KDP Sync extension to see profit per book, including Kindle Unlimited page reads.
    7. Book your onboarding call and we'll go through your account together.

    Frequently asked questions

Is AdsDroid an agency or software?

AdsDroid is a done-for-you agency. A dedicated account manager runs your Amazon Ads with help from AdsDroid's in-house software, and you don't log in to a tool yourself. BookBidder is software: it automates your bids twice a day and you stay in charge of the strategy.

    How much does AdsDroid cost?

AdsDroid charges £649 a month (about $850) or 10% of your net profit, whichever is higher. That covers all your books in all Amazon marketplaces. The first three months are a required commitment, and AdsDroid recommends a monthly ad budget of at least £2,300 (about $3,000). Its website doesn't say how net profit is calculated, so check your written agreement.

Is AdsDroid worth it for KDP authors?

It can be, if you spend at least $3,000 a month on ads and want someone else to run them completely, including launch campaigns, Sponsored Brands creative and advice on your book pages. If you'd rather stay in control of your ads and pay a flat software price, BookBidder costs $49 to $199 a month with no share of your profit.

What's a cheaper alternative to AdsDroid?

BookBidder is Amazon Ads software built for KDP authors, from $49 a month with flat plans by ad spend and no percentage of spend or profit. AdsDroid's own website points authors below its recommended budget to software such as Adigy, which starts at $249 a month.

Does AdsDroid have a minimum contract?

Yes. AdsDroid's website says the first three months are a required commitment. Terms after that are set in your written agreement and aren't stated on its website.

Can I use AdsDroid and BookBidder at the same time?

Not on the same campaigns. Two systems changing the same bids will undo each other's work. If you switch, make sure AdsDroid has stopped managing a campaign before BookBidder starts.
